Protest puppetry is an essential and under-utilized art form of this spectacle driven political moment. Erica Gangsei and Stella Lochman organized a group to make puppets for the first march — created witches and signs and even sent a banner to Washington DC.
Throughout the winter of 2018, Erica Gangsei organized invited the public to make protest puppets for the Womxn's March 2019, inviting the public to collaboratively create in the gallery then bringing them to life in the streets of San Francisco.
The closing of "Puppets Against the Patriarchy" was celebrated with an evening of sock puppet karaoke in the Patriarchy Puppet Theater.
